Friend of mine would like to activate and port a number to public mobile, how do I do it?

Hi @cgross, your friend can easily activate their SIM card and port their number by visiting publicmobile.ca/activate and following the steps there. During activation, they’ll have the option to transfer their existing number.
They just need to make sure their current number is active with the old provider before starting the porting process.

Your friend can activate either an eSIM or physical sim. If he chooses sim, get a Public Mobile sim card from Telus/Koodo/Mobile Klink or online via Amazon.
Then download PM app on his phone and start Subscription using hr PM app
He will be promoted about phone number after the Payment step. Make sure his current mobile service is active. Provide PM the old provider's account number as the porting info and complete the subscription.
After the account is activated, make sure he leave the old provider's sim in the phone. His old provider will send him a Porting Authorization Text and he need to reply YES within 90 minutes. After he replied, he can wait another 2 hours and insert the PM sim card in the phone and test both incoming/outgoing calls
