'Activate SIM' Page Down

Hello. I am interested in switching to Public Mobile, but the 'Activate SIM' page on the website says it is unavailable or down for maintenance. I tried using the Chatbot and it confirmed that there was no schedule maintenance at this time. I tried to submit a ticket, but it would not let me unless I had an existing account or phone number with Public Mobile. I have a few questions:

 

1. Is this a known and/or ongoing issue?

2. Is there a way to activate a SIM Card without using that webpage?

 

As you can understand, I do not feel comfortable purchasing a SIM Card + Plan without knowing I can activate it.

Thank you for the help. The webpage is now working for me. Also, thank you for the information about shipping times - I will consider purchasing a SIM Card in-person instead.

@pekoe , the site was down for maintenance overnight & early morning. It’s back to working again. Sorry for the trouble.

When you try again during the daytime please activate using your browser in private / incognito mode. The website has cache issues! To avoid these issues I always do this & it woks fine using my iPad!

To get a SIM card faster you can purchase one at a Telus/Koodo store & activate online here. Ordering one on here can take up to 3 week to receive through Canada Post!

Maintenance of the website is commonly done in the late evening hours so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I have be a member since February 6, 2021 and recommended 6 friends and family to switch to PM (3rd tier of Telus parent company) one of the big 3 carriers in Canada. They had no issues. 
Just remember that PM format is an online service so no live customer service but Community members are members here to help other members with common issues.

Also when you activate your SIM to clear cache on your browser and go incognito on a laptop or desktop computer.

 

If you are porting your old number over to leave your old SIM in your phone and reply to the text from your old carrier with YES to confirm you are porting over to PM. Your old SIM will continue to work for about another hour until porting is completed then power off the phone and switch the SIM cards then power back on.

 

If you pick a new number just power off (reboot) your phone.

Maintenance at Public Mobile happens in the evenings all the time without notice. Try tomorrow.
