I started setting up my account and got to step 2 but accidentally hit previous and it sent me back to step one and now it won't let me sign in and says my sim is invalid

Refresh the page and try again a reasonable time later. Do not use the back button but look for link to continue as you go along.

The setup process doesn't the like the back button. Several customers have had your issue.
You can try again in one hour. Clear cache, different web browser or incognito mode. Chrome incognito works well with this site.
