I have issue believing that as my Sim is over 4 years old when 5g wasn't even available. It's glitchy and worse than with regular 3g or LTE for phone calls. Keeps dropping.

If 5G is supported on your device it should work without needing to change SIM. Even the 3G and 4G plans can work on the 5G network.

@Keldis SIM you have is 5G ready just change to the plan you want and make package for next renewal and not immediately or you lose money in your current cycle

You simply select the plan that has the 5G component.
check your self-serve account plan options under the change subscription tab. There you’ll see options for 5G and 4G.
