Hello Community,
August is so much more than just the last month of the summer. Here are some interesting facts about August that you may not know:
- The Romans gave this month its name in 8BC, after the first Roman Emperor Augustus who ruled from 27BC until his death in AD14. Who knew?
- Before then, the month had been known as Sextilis, as it was the sixth of ten months in the Roman calendar, which began with March. Hmmm – what happened to January and February?
- The Anglo-Saxons called August “Weodmonath” meaning “weed month”. I totally get that.
- The birthstones for August are the peridot and the sardonyx and the flowers are the gladiolus and poppy. Okay – I’ve heard of a poppy.
- August was the 55th most common name given to a baby boy in Sweden in 2014. Do you know any Swedish people named August?
Who would have thought there would be so many interesting facts about the month of August? I’m proud to say that there are also some amazing things that happened within our Community for the month of August.

- A huge thank you to our Oracles, our Top 0.01% who go above and beyond of not only starting healthy discussions, but helping others to better understand our services and contributing to our awesome Community on a daily basis.
- We would like to tip our hats to the awesome folks below for not only providing feedback and support to our Community members, but also for building on the solutions provided by others. Together August’s Top 0.5% contributed to over 900 replies, and together received over 1,300 Bravo’s. Truly remarkable!
We also want to give a shout-out to these members who have been active as well – posting, answering questions, providing feedback and getting Bravos. Keep it up!
