A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was a place called “Earth” where every May 4th they celebrated Star Wars Day! To commemorate this holiday, we wanted to share some awesome facts about the epic space opera that will bump your knowledge level up to Jedi Master:
- Luke Skywalker was originally named Luke Starkiller, but it was changed before filming began.
- During the evacuation of Cloud City, you can see an extra in the background carrying what looks like an ice cream maker. Good to know that even in space they still make ice cream the old fashioned way.
- The members of NSYNC made a cameo in Attack of the Clones, but the scene was cut from the final version of the movie. How cool would it have been to see Justin Timberlake wielding a lightsaber?
- The phrase, "I have a bad feeling about this" is said in every film. It’s also what a lot of fans said when they heard Han Solo was getting his own spinoff movie.
- Qui-Gon Jinn’s communicator device is actually a modified Gillette Ladies Razor. Talk about dual purpose!
To celebrate today, we want to know which of the episodes is your favourite. Are you a Return of the Jedi person or more of a The Empire Strikes Back fan? Perhaps you’re one of the rare few who actually enjoyed The Phantom Menace? Whatever your choice, tell us, and you’ll be entered in our contest. Just comment below with your favourite episode by Friday, May 11th at 12pm, and three winners will be randomly selected to win Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray Set. Start writing that comment, and may the force be with you!

Eh?
Lucas' original cut bears very little resemblance to the film released in theatres (many documentaries discussing this and even showing entire scenes he was forced to remove / re-edit)

Not strictly parts of the trilogies, but I actually liked Rogue One and The Clone Wars - I don't normally watch cartoony anime stuff ... but it's Star Wars, y'know?
(And just for the record: I wouldn't want to be some Jedi rebel/terrorist scum. I'd be Darth Korth!)

Episode IV - A New Hope
Nothing like the first time. Cool and funny characters, and special effects that didn't LOOK like special effects. It looked to us at the time like it was real... filmed in space.
.... a classic. A phenominon! I saw it five times!

To which Lord Vader would reply: "I find their lack of faith disturbing...."
But seriously, I agree with @will13am. Episode IV: A New Hope is the one that started it all and as a seminal work, will remain indelibly etched in the pantheon of sci-fi cinema, at least in my mind. Empire Strikes Back would be my next favourite.

If you are going off topic, then it has to be Wrath of Khan.

Without a doubt, the answer is episode IV, A New Hope. It is the espiode that put the franchise on the map. Since it aired in an era where there was far less spectacular special effects and cinematography than future episodes, it relied on the plot and the actors for its success. What a success it was.

The Phantom Menace is actually my favourite movie from the series thus far. Excellent choice of actors and characters - including Watto! Albeit Jar Jar could be slightly annoying at times to adults, the character was still very realistic given the setting. The connection between the young Anikan and Padme was genuine. The pod race was realistic and very entertaining. I saw it four times in the theatre and twice on opening day. May the Force be with you!

To be honest, I liked the lighthearted humour of VIII and Rogue One, but if I was to choose from the originals, I actually liked Return of the Jedi better than Empire! My only issue with Empire was all the action was pretty much at the start of the movie then it dragged on a bit after that.
