Actually I do know why. Company executives get paid in stock options. Whenever there is aggressive marketing, price hike or layoff, stock rises like crazy. No regard for long term profitability, credibility or reputation.
I don't know why telus is offering a rather aggressive promotion for people to switch. Public was a good experiment. People liked the service-essential, no-nonsense, minimal-marketing, transparent-pricing, finance-free, community based business model...
