I was of the understanding that if I used Wi-fi my Data would not be affected. I have Wi-fi at home yet almost all my data has be used. Why?

I just registered for Public Mobile yesterday. The set up was done through KLINK Mobile. I received a text from Public Mobile that said " We're having trouble transferring your numbeer. Looks like you entered an incorrect ESA/MEID."Can someone help m...
