@NanoBea

I'm happy I could help. I think you are only the second teracube owner here but they have a great community if you have any technical issues with your phone they know what they are talking about over there.

@darliciousThank you for your support. I created a new APN and I confirm it works. Thank you for teaching me. I'll remember for next time.

@NanoBea

You shouldn't be connecting to the telus network for your APN it should be sp.mb.com or Public Mobile or as below. So you need to edit your APN. Try this one....

Are you unable to use data at all? Can you send or receive MMS? You have enabled mobile data? Posting your APN will help us see where the issue may be...What network are you connected to?

 @NanoBeaIt looks like it should work with 4G and 3G here. Can you call incoming and outgoing? Text incoming and outgoing? Can you give us images of your APN settings? You should be able to set it to LTE under Settings-> Connections ->Mobile networks-> Network mode. Set it to start with LTE or 4G and then include others like 3G or UMTS or WCDMA or HSPA.

@darliciousI purchased a Teracube 2e. It is a great phone and greener than other brands. However, I now have an issue with my PM data plan. The phone does not transfer data using PM 3G network. Any help on how to fix the problem will be welcome. Thank you.

"Open hardware" phones tend to be overpriced, gutless, and clunky compared vs mainstream branded phones. They can't leverage any of the economies of scale which define the consumer electronics manufacturing, logistics, and licensing industries - they can only afford (expect to sell) small production runs at the worst cost rates. They can't afford substantial in-house development of new tech.

You're really paying for "environmental sustainability". The phone is made with methods and materials which minimize environmental impact. The phone can be recycled and reused. The phone is energy-efficient, both in usage and in charging. Unfortunately, a lot of this is greenwash - if giants like Apple can lie about it then little kickstarts and indies who aren't as closely scrutinized can get away with it, too.

And you're really paying for DIY support, for Right-to-Repair, etc. I'm all about this stuff! But I admit it's niche, it's not really the best choice for everyone. As far as repair and reusability promises - the ability to easily add or replace or upgrade modules, to configure the hardware any way you like, to extend the life of the device indefinitely - remember that lifetime promises can't be kept when small startups don't survive.

This Teracube looks promising. But so did Fairphone, which is still producing expensive mediocre devices. And so did Shiftphone, which is even more expensive and even more mediocre. And so did Neva, Andro-One, Delta, AltPrime, Ultimium, many others - ambitious over-their-head startups which all turned into vapor (and which have all magically vanished without a trace from public domain or public record).

I don't trust small brands. OS update not as good. and when I have problem, hard to seek help

@Community_QA

Lol...with 2 new phones in the last year I am not in the market for a new phone for a long time. For me the quality of the camera is paramount and my purchase of my Google Pixel 3 has spoiled me in that regard. If I was in the market and the camera wasn't a high priority then I would definitely consider the teraphone 2e and the reason I signed up for updates for when it came back in stock after high demand left them OOS for about 8 months was so I could pass the info along to other interested parties....the bf was one of them but he was forced to replace his not up to par Sonim XP-8 about 4 months ago. It's problem? The inability to repair or get replacement parts if you are not the original owner.

@darlicious  you are going for it?

darlicious
Mayor / Maire

@Community_QA

They get 3 years of updates the same as most brands with the exception of Apple. Given that it is sold without bloatware it makes all that more able to last without the need for updates. But it is designed for users who intend to not have to replace their phones every two years or after they have damaged their phones. The reason most people replace their phones because of the difficulty and expense of repairing their phones is far greater than just replacing them.

Yes they are a small company with a crowd sourced backing but the enthusiasm for their product is refreshing and the belief that as a society we shouldn't be filling third world countries with the dangerous pollutants from discarded cell phones from first world countries is admirable and should be supported if you want to lessen your carbon footprint and effect change in our wasteful society.

green phone?  colour ?  LoL

idea is good, but I think this  is just like any other small brands, they stop provide update after 2 years.  Google, Apple and Samsung are doing it for 4 or 5 years.  So, if support, updates just 2 years , it is not that Green anyway

🤣 @esjliv

Guessing that's her 'signature line' - ya know, kinda like the Oracles sorta use.  😐

I checked, the referenced device is not part of PM's current CPO phone offerings...

@BKNS27

The reviews are pretty good. If you are unlike me with camera performance being a deal breaker for most people the camera is perfectly fine. Nice to have a phone free of bloatware. The warranty, replaceable battery, easy to obtain affordable parts that most people can replace on their own and the reasonable repair prices are all very attractive for customers who want to keep their phones for as long as possible. They have a very engaged and enthusiastic community that reminds me of the earlier days of this community.
