Reassessing my needs.

Right now I have 3 PM accounts.

Two are cell phones. Rarely used but now a day to day necessity. Even if you are elderly. We can accept that and are able to keep up with technology. What’s hard,  is the expense.

One is our land line. And it does not need the 250mb of data or texting.
(using a ZTE box and/or a mobile phone with a Panasonic link2cell).

What I do like about PM is the FANTASTIC legacy rewards program, unlimited texting, unlimited inbound calling, and various add ons that expired only when exhausted.

But as times change, I must too! My land line I am paying for data and texting that’s never used and will seek something comparable for less money and perhaps with better options. So will review another SIM card or am leaning to go back to VoIP. I guess I  could also approach Telus for the free or $5 a month land line. <= should I?

Then to review my needs as per last few years of mobile use. We have never used calling out of our calling area…Canada or worldwide. Texting not much….but more iMessaging (mostly on home wifi) and that’s where the 250mb of data is handy when not at home..  And there may be a slight need for service while in USA. But buying a SIM at Walmart for Tracfone might still be less in the long run.

Any ideas?

And one other question. If I went back to VoIP.ms would Voip.ms text me to approve the port?

 I think it might be time to reconsider that old saying to not put all your eggs in one basket.

Any suggestions?

@SeniorCitizen  If you stay in USA long enough to have  TextNow SIM delivered, have a look at their data/calling plans which do require taking a US number. A friend has their cheapest plan and it includes roaming in Canada, so he has Fongo for a Canadian number. He finds wifi and that roaming data is enough for both countries and friends/family in both countries have a local number to call and text.

@SeniorCitizen

I would suggest you purchase a TextNow SIM for free calling and texting while in the USA without the need of WiFi to work.

I have the TextNow SIM while I am in the USA and connect to wifi while in Canada.
