The 2-Stage process to Buy Add-Ons is kinda awkward, and some PPL have been confused

WHY NOT PM make the Purchasing Simple, WHEN using CC, 1-Step, NOT 2-Step

I think, IIRC, this is the same method as Koodo.  You pay into 'the account' then purchase from 'the account'.

That said, I am 100% in agreement with you.

My daughter has a prepaid Koodo plan (the $15/month plan -- minus 10% discount for autopay).  Every so often I have to buy time, but it's always a two step process.

On the other hand, last time I had to purchase anything, it was already in 'the account' because of 10% discount reward goes into the account, and *doesn't* go to pay for the monthly service.  In fact, I just looked and she has a balance of $36.50, good enough for some add-ons. (I purchased data about 4 years ago during their double data event, 4GB for $50, she still has 800MB remaining - God bless this child...)

All I am trying to say, this is the way Telus wants to run things. I agree that it should change, especially with a balance in the credit zone, you'd think it would go to monthly. No so. Just add-ons.  I really don't see many differences in the website either, between Koodo and PM. Almost identical.

I guess what I am saying is that if they change PM, they'd have to change Koodo as well.

@makkahn28 I like this idea so much that I suggested it myself nearly 9 months ago.  Please consider lending your support to that existing idea, if you haven't already.

The whole setup is fine.  You must put money in, before you make a selection for anything on Public Mobile.

it will always be a two step process.  1. Add funds via credit card or top up voucher.  2.  Select addon.

You must have an available balance to purchase anything.  Even autopsy debits your credit card before renewing your service.

I purchased a long distance add-on a week ago.  Prior to doing that I had no clue what exactly was this often discussed two step process like.  After having done it once, I would say it is not that hard to do.  The two steps are intuitive and has continuity.  I think it's a matter of read twice, click once.  I would have no issue if it was to remain the way it is now.  Sorry folks for being a bit of a black hat.

@stonechucker that's exactly the point: with AutoPay enabled, you don't need to manually top up to renew, it just does it for you in the process. So why on earth can't it AutoPay (auto top up for add-on purchase amount) for you whole buying an add-on(s)?!?

@will13am fair enough, it have you seen the volume of community threads of people that haven't figured this out on their own and are wondering why their add-on isn't working or how long it takes to activate once purchased? I'm glad you figured it out for yourself but can you not see there is an issue?

@srlawren, you referred to auto pay as a way of supporting the streamlining of this process.  Not everyone uses auto pay.  So the process has to adapt to the no auto pay account.

@srlawren, the issue with autopay, is that it takes hours to work.  It is done in the middle of the night when presumably traffic is low, and follows a process to make the funds available, and then process the restart of the plan.  It would seem autopay is a batch process, and is not designed to be triggered on an individual basis.

@stonechucker, @will13am I don't necessarily mean AutoPay as it exists currently. I was more referring to the concept. If you guys want to continue seeing several posts a day telling or reminding folks that add-ons are a two step process, then by all means please continue to be stubborn about this. But I for one am sick of it and think there is room for improvement. Why you can't admit that a single submit click to both add the funds and then immediately use them would be better I surely don't understand but I don't want to argue with you so at this point I guess we must agree to disagree. Have a wonderful day guys!
