Bringing this back up since now there is scrolling effect on iPhone X. It’s really not necessary that the carrier name needs to be so long. Public without the mobile would be sufficient. No other carrier name is so long. Rogers wireless just puts rogers in their carrier name and omits the wireless, same for Telus, Koodo, chatr, Virgin etc..  This is also a pain on other iPhones since the name takes up a lot of the status bar. This can probably be easily fixed with a carrier update.

Shawnie, thanks for bringing this up to the mods. Appreciate the effort — hopefully, it plays out in our favour.

No problem. I know people complained about this in the past and Public mobile doesn’t want to change it but now it seems moving forward the long name doesn’t make sense now that there is an issue with the most recent iPhones

Two options, get an Android, or live with it.

Public Mobile has already said not for us on this suggestion.

Don’t be so harsh. It’s a legit issue, Mayor 😂.

3rd option, cancel public mobile and go with someone else.

Koodo is legally called Koodo mobile but you don’t see that carrier name. This is an easy fix and would be consistent with the Telus brand

I like the suggestion, even though I'm have an Android and the issue doesn't affect me.  You don't see "Telus Mobility" as a banner, you see TELUS if you're they're customer.  I can see this being an annoyance for iPhone people.  Sounds like an easy fix on the back-end, simplifies things.

Agreed, Taekgun.

@Taekgun, on a Rogers affiliate sourced LG G4, the Public Mobile service shows as Telus.  I still maintain that Public Mobile has every right to use their full name in the notification.  In fact using any variant or abbreviation can be misleading.  Clearly, the limitation is with the phone software and has nothing to do with the carrier.

Don't be such a grump, Will. There is significant cause for concern; OP's experience on the iPhone X is being altered by the abnormal carrier name.

Bell Mobility = Bell, TELUS Mobility = TELUS, Rogers Wireless = ROGERS on iPhones.

There is no reason for Public Mobile to show up on the phone. It should say Public.
