I think that "Public Mobile" is just a bit too long, especially for the iPhone: "PM" would suffice. It seems petty, but it'd be a small, fairly inexpensive change.

Even worse on smaller iPhones...

Actually, if you're going by what's "standard" for other carriers, maybe it should say "Public" only. For example, for other carriers, it doesn't say "Virgin Mobile" or "Telus Mobility" – it just says "Virgin" or "Telus"

This is a really annoying issue with Public Mobile. As an iOS user of a small iPhone, I dislike the "Public M..." in the status bar. Just one quick fix to Public or PM would be great and appreciated. I also heard that a carrier update could fix this on iOS should PM do something about it.

A better fix is to ditch that iPhone

Especially since it is the only brand this is an issue with

(I'd suggest asking Apple to move the dots for pages is a far better fix)

For reference, here's how it appears on an Android phone (in this case, a OnePlus 3 running Android 7.0/OxygenOS 4.0.2):

The status bar doesn't show it at all....

Until you pull down the notification/quick setting shade, at which point it shows correctly in two places:

@srlawren exactly, I don't think any version of Android has that problem

I would hate a phone with a display right across entire status bar

I read this thread before, and although I didn't bravo it, I was thinking a short name of Pub Mob.  The cellular service for the local bar scene :). Lol

@Igor_M

The problem is on iPhones the carrier name is constantly cut off becuse it's so long. That's also not true about it being standard approach for carriers. Even Wind Mobile listed its carrier name as WIND. Same thing for Virgin Mobile. They just list the carrier name as Virgin. It would look a lot better if it just said "Public" instead of "Public Mobile". I personally use an Android phone and it doesn't matter but everyone who uses an iPhone on Public Mobile constantly notices the Public Mobile gets cut off in the top left corner.

@theoc198 an excellent opportunity to convert your iPhone friends into the Android world!  Robot Happy

(Yeah, I know, my iPhone friends are stubborn too; and of course, they can't conceive of a world in which I or anyone else would not want a shiney expensive iPhone.  #amiright?!?)
