I wonder, If it's possible fror a Carrier to have a service where one could have 2-4 or more Sims, same #, so Like imagine like a landline, or Business, but using Mobile devices, would be nice to see something like this one day
It's funny cause the thousand dollar GS7 and GS7E don't even offer dual-sims let alone iPhones (hah, iPhones with dual-sims is as realistic as pigs flying )
What you are suggesting is not possible. If phone numbers can be duplicated across multiple SIMs or SIMs are produced that don't have unique numbers, the mess that would create is unimaginable.
Having said that, what you are suggesting has been available to our Amerifriends for a long time complements of google voice. Google offers a forwarding service that mirrors what you are discussing. WIth google voice you can go into your account and edit in real time what the forwarding service will do for you. You can have it forward a call to many lines at once or none at all.
There are rumors that google voice may be coming to Canada. The rumor has surfaced a few times in the past. I think its not gonna happen because our phone system is still stuck in the 20th century where carriers still charge customers to call numbers within the country. The carriers will oppose anything that jeopardizes their gold mine.
@kkum while I agree that all phones should come as dual SIM or at least have an available dual SIM variation, this has nothing to do with @makkahn28's suggestion.
@will13am actually..... even without GV, I believe this can kind of be done already if you use something like say Fongo for your voice valls. You can sign into Fongo with the same account from multiple devices. I have never tried this, but I think they would all ring if someone dialed the Fongo #. @makkahn28 I think you could use forwarding of your PM # to a Fongo # to achieve this, and then sign into Fongo from the multiple devices. It would cost you nothing to try if you wanted to. 🙂
I know for sure that this idea is available in some countries and in fact I had two phones (over 15 years ago) with same phone # however only the phone last used will get incoming calls, in other words, you can call out from either phone, text from either phone but you will only receive calls and text on the phone you last used.
But don't keep your hopes up they don't allaw that any more.
