How do I unlock my Huawei P20 phone so that I can put in a new SIM card while in France next month?

Yes, I do know that, but thank you, just the same Sansan. I have to first make sure that my phone is unlocked, so that I can insert one of those new international SIM cards. : )

Thank you computergeek541.
And where do I get one of those non-Telus, Koodo, non-Public) SIM cards?

To clarify, Canadian providers are required by law to unlock any remaining locked devices on request, with no extra charges other than (not applicable here) remaining device payments.
The reason for me making the statement in that way is because of specific instances of a few Public Mobile customer support agents making incorrect statements saying that they can't help with unlocking Telus devices.

Just so that you are aware your public mobile phone will not have service while you're in France or Europe. You have to buy a local sim card or esim from wherever you're traveling to in order to have service.

This phone should already be unlocked based on how it's a 2018 model. To test if it's unlocked, insert a non-Telus (non-Koodo, non-Public) SIM card in the device. If the phone asks for a network unlock code, you'll need to use the Public Mobile bot to open a ticket and ask that a Public Mobile customer support agent provide the unlock code. Despite some past erroneous information posted in these message forums, Public Mobile customer support agents can and are supposed to help customers unlock Telus-locked devices.
