@mags1 it took a while to find specs for your phone, but it looks like it contains the required 850MHz and 1900MHz network frequencies, and may have been sold by Telus (based on the image on this page:) https://www.handsetdetection.com/device-detection-database/devices/lg/c710h/.
So, it should be compatible. Are you a new Public Mobile customer and your phone has not yet worked at all? Or were you already successfully using it here and it suddenly stopped? Do you see any error messages? Can you make/receive calls? Send/receive texts? Use data? We need more details to try to help.

@mags1 lgs require at minimum a network reset and sometimes a factory reset is required to work properly. Try the network reset. Stay safe.
Sorry The only article that I could find is for a factory reset. Back up your information first.
