old Huawei phone cannot receive 6-digit code to confirm transfer of telephone number from Telus

my old Huawei TEXT function has crashed and the whole system is crashing. I have a hard SIM card in a iPhone12 but cannot transfer phone number because Huawei cannot receive 6-digit code to confirm the transfer from Telus to Public - HELP

Thank you for your help - Yes, I spent 2hours with Telus agent in El Salvadore and then 2hours with Telus agent in Guatamala and Telus have resolved the issue - grateful to the last Telus agent who persisted with his calls with Tech Department.  Not one of them had encountered this issue before.  

hi @funpig1 they number is correct but just the porting team call centre has changed their usually way to handle calls

and if what you said was right about porting from Telus, she should call Telus directly to deal with the port approval issue first, as I advised above

I messaged  the 1-8**-***-**78 number to Wendy more than 3 hours ago and she has messaged that she is trying it now. Quite frankly, I am not sure if that telephone number is up to date. At least 2 people let me know that the number still worked about a week ago and were able to talk to a live person and fix their porting problem.  However, over the last couple of days, several people messaged me saying they got put into an automated loop and that the number was not helpful. 

If there is an updated porting support number, please message it to Wendy and me for future reference. Thank you.

and @wendyfoster , if that is the case, if the issue is your Telus sim no longer functioning and you were unable to reply the text, you can call Telus and ask them to  allow you to verbally approve the port.  It can be done, especially Telus owns PM, they can simply "move" the number over.

I think she's talking about transferring a number on an old SIM card from another carrier. I still have old full sized SIM cards from Telus (without the perforations) lying around at home.

If the old phone no longer works and she can't put the full sized sim in the new phone, that would create her problem.

PM does not have that long a history. 

They had a CDMA system, but the current system that is compatible with Telus network started in 2014.  So, all PM sim cards should be tri-cut sim. The tri cut design allows  PM sim cards to be compatible with phones that take only standard sim, micros sim and nano sim

It sounds like the old phone and the old sim were manufactured in an era before nano sims. If so, it would not contain the perforations to reduce the size.

You can still purchase sim cutters on Amazon, but not worth the trouble.

hi @wendyfoster PM sim card is the same for all phones.  You might see a full size sim card, but if you loo carefully, there are little frames you can remove to make it nano size so it can fit newer phones.  But keep the frame so you can put it back for the Huewai phone that needs the full size sim

Thank you, will try support agent.  Huawei Phone is very old and SIM card cannot be used in newer phones.  Good idea, though.
