iPhone text msg.

My wife ran out of her 12 GB of data ( she learn the hard way).

So she's having issues with text message on her iPhone. Do I have to turn anything off on her iPhone like iMessage? I believe iMessage will now only work on wifi, but text threw PM will still work right? She just won't be able to browse since she used all her data.
Thank you and happy new year!!

So no need to turn anything off, glad it all worked out.

Thank you Luddite that was it. Send as SMS was off.

To set up messaging properly go to Settings >> Messages >> iMessage toggle ON, Send as SMS toggle ON; MMS Messaging toggle ON. This set up automatically switches to SMS via PM if data not available.

MMS does not use data allowance.

Great thank you for the quick responses. I'm going to turn off cellular data or iMessage.

for sure he need turn off the  imessage. because imessage is the first choice for iphone text.

that will effect the normal text ..

It'll just be green bubble instead of blue.

It should revert to text automatically, no need to do anything. I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

he said his wife has run out of data, thats why she can not use the imessage. except use the wifi.

the only way to make it work, just turn off imessage  and  use the normal text。  no data need any more.

Not sure you need to turn it off.

Im sorry I totally misunderstood. That's correct, iMessage won't work unless it's connected to the internet.

iMessage actually works great on PM's network, same network as Koodo/Telus

yes, you should turn off the imessage. it won't work with out network. the only way to use the imessage is connecting to wifi.
