iMessage and FaceTime will not activate

Just got my plan activated and number ported.

  • Number is correct in settings
  • Have tried restarting phone
  • Have tried toggling off/on the plan in cellular settings
  • Have tried toggling off/on iMessage and Facetime

iMessage and Facetime give "An error occurred during activation. Try again"

There is one more option that may work. Log out of your Apple ID. Turn off phone for 10 minutes, restart, log back in. This forces a connection back to the Apple server.

This is something on the Apple side. You might have to wait a bit longer and try again 

And also, make sure your removed and deleted old sim/esim

I have already tried these steps and then waited overnight, still not working.

Try Reboot phone and Reset network settings

but if issues persists

  • go to Settings -> Phone -> My Number, remove the phone number
  • Wait 5 min
  • reboot phone
  • go to Settings -> Phone -> My Number and manually put the phone number back
  • it will try to register iMessage/Facetime again.  Give it as much as 30 mins

Has already been 24 hours, have tried toggling off iMessage and FaceTime in settings and turning phone off completely, waiting a minute, then turning them back on again.

Hello @keogan 

It can take up to 24 hours to fully register with Apple. To force the registry, toggle iMessage and Facetime off in your settings and turn off your phone completely. Wait a minute, then turn them back on again. Just remember, if this doesn't work, just hold off a bit as it does take a while for Apple to update their servers.
