If you are not in wifi, you can use data saver on chrome to consume less data when loading webpages (it stops it from loading all the images etc.). I remember a while ago, I used Opera browser for some time because it uses up less data than chrome. Not sure if this is still the case?

Use wifi when available.
Turn off data that background apps using.
Make sure to sign up for current Holiday Promotion, which includes FREE data and international minutes.
How to redeem your free data and international minutes:
- Log into your Self-Serve account
- Click “Purchase Add-Ons” in My Data & Add-ons section of Overview tab
