I have an apple i4 phone but cant get the cellular data to work

Try connecting your iPhone to your computer with a USB cable and run iTunes. IPhone devices may need to connect to an Apple server to activate.

@Domsil14I would recommend swapping your SIM card into another phone to verify that data is indeed working.

Once you have verified.. then go to http://www.unlockit.co.nz/unlockit/ and create an APN profile for your phone.

Do note MMS won't work for your phone.

I am able to get text messages and calls and Internet at home off my home internet just no data away from home

Anything after iPhone 4s and iPhone 4s is fine with PM for Data but anything before that you can not manually or Auto input APN settings, so the only option is to follow the other person instructions. Go to unlockit.nz or something like that with WiFi on and use safari to install what is called an APN profile.  FYI. With this option Remember you will get data and iMessage working but Regular MMS messaging won't work because again you are unable to add or edit the MMS APN settings.

@Domsil14There are a few variants of iPhone 4? What is the exact model number? If it is not A1332, your phone is not compatible with any networks in Canada.

it says to put in sp.mb.com under APN. I did that still no cellular

Early iPhone APN settings cannot be updated manually. You will need to connect to wifi, access http://www.unlockit.co.nz/mobilesettings/ with Safari, then follow the directions there. pasted from @Luddite's quirks thread
