When purchasing US Data Add-On, does it go by hours or days?

I buy the data at 9:50 pm from Vancouver. When it hits 12AM that one day is automatically gone.

Or I buy data at 9:50 pm from Vancouver, and it will expire 9:50 pm Vancouver time, while Im in new york.

Its by the day unfortunately and not by the hour.
