What should I do to get a Public Mobile SIM number without changing my number?

I am trying to transfer from Fido to Public Mobile. What should I do? Should I purchase a new plan and SIM card first? Because the Public Mobile Online Activation website my friend sent me ask me to enter 19-digit SIM card number

Can I do without changing my phone number?

A SIM can’t be transfer to another provider.
An already activated SIM can’t be use with another account.

By far the best and safer option is to take a new number.
When phone is working make the porting request within Public Mobile self-service account.

Do not cancel old phone.

If your other old account is still active and can be, at no expense to you, go ahead and pick a new number with PM. 

Rather than regretting canceling your old account (by immediately porting you old number over)  try PM out for a period of time. When you are sure, then port your number over. And keep in mind your old account must be still active and WILL be deactivated once you port your number. 

I have until middle of August until I have to stay with PM or stay with Telus (at a cost of $18). Since I rarely use  the phone I still can’t make a decision.  So far I have no issues.  Soooo please call me so I can use it more!

You dont need a temporary number immediately choose an existing number and type your number in. Your fido account will be canceled and you will be charged for the days you used there service and will get a final bill. Dont get a temporary number. I was with fido and just transferred no need to go through this.

Hello there, i was in your position just days ago. So first thing order your sim from PM website, Amazon, or buy it from a retail store and take advantage of the offer going on. Once you get it activate it and that automatically sets an account for you where you will choose your plan, choose your payment method, and choose your own number (do not select new number). Just enter your old number with all the other details and your done! Also your fido account will be immediately cancelled. Hope i helped out, too bad i missed the offer as it started on the day I received my sim in the mail :(.. good luck 🙂

Activate your sim, sign up for a new TEMPORARY number, and then port your number over once your service is working properly. Keep your old account open until the port is complete.

@sunnymaeve925  you need to get a Sim card and then activate it with a new temporary number, after it works then port in your Fido number to public mobile on your self serve account. Make sure your phone is unlocked. And don't forget a refferal code to get a 10$ credit on your new activation!  Right now there's a free Sim promo on plans of 25$ or more, you can go to Walmart, wow mobile shop and the mobile shop
