Was I not charged gst?? Or did I get a discount?

When I initially signed up the email from Public Mobile said my plan and gst would be $126, yet my credit card was only charged $120. At first I thought the gst was not applied, or is it since I paid with a credit cart that they automatically give you the $2/month x3 discount on your initial payment?? That would also bring it down to $120.

I guess I got lucky. Activated 3 lines and no tax charged on initial payments. Added a few add ons and was charged tax for that...

Its a glitch in the system.

I got charged HST on all of my SIM activations

Yup, that's right... HST on transactions after the first initial one.

When you are signing up, it actually tells you that you will be charged the tax amount on your next payment cycle based on your province location. I believe their system doesn't allow to verify the province at the initial setup so they must be adjusting the first 90 day base price on their end to account for the tax included price of $120 otherwise they will be scrutinized by CRA.

I don't think it's a nice gesture, as PM is still accountable for those tax dollars. It's more like a glitch if anything!

Public doesn't charge tax for the first 90 days for some reason.
