I have transferred my exisiting phone number from another provider over to Public Mobile today. How long should I wait to contact the old provider to cancel my plan/line there?

As mentioned by other people, your plan with the old carrier will automatically be cancelled once the port is completed. I just switched over a few days ago, and when I tried to sign on to my old carrier account, it already stated my account is cancelled. 🙂 Hassle free!

Don't contact the old provider to cancel. If you do, the number port will fail. People do this and if old carrier lets you, that means the port wasn't done yet.

@ljdemont usually when you port your number it closes the old account! If your old number works on your public mobile phone and you got the text saying your port is complete then your old account should be closed

Your old plan will cancel automatically when the transfer is complete.
