Transfer Phone Number

Tebare

I'm looking for help transfering my phone number to public mobile. I use the transfer option enter my phone number that is not a Koodo or Telus number, on the next screen the drop list to select current provider doesn't work.when I click on it nothing happens. If I try to type my provider name I'm presented an error that the provider can't be found. What should I do next. I have tried this in different browser or through the app and on different phones. Same issue.

@softech will do. I really appreciate all the assistance. Fingers crossed, changing numbers is not fun. Thanks again

@Tebare

from what I see , 519-676 is a Blenheim number, which only has Bell Canada in that rate centre.  Interesting you ported over to Telus

Let us know how it turns out for your other number.

@softech  interesting... I was able to move my land line to Telus home phone lte. 519-676 their was no issue, it had been a bell number for decades.

@Tebare   Yes, number cannot be transferred into Telus

519-401-xxxx is a Chatham number.  Only Bell and Rogers have a rate centre there and Telus does not have one.  Basically what it meant is Telus does not have any operation in Chatham.  So, your number can only be moved between Bell and Rogers (or those that uses Rogers network, like Zoomer)

You will have no choice but to either pick a new number or stay with Bell or Rogers ( or Zoomer in your case)

@softech 519-401-####

@Tebare  and one little piece of info, what is the next 3 digits after 519?

@softech  sure area code is 519 never moved I'm  still in southern Ontario. My phone number is currently with Zoomer Mobile also known as cityfone. Cell phone number was originally Bell but moved to Zoomer a few years ago.

@Tebare

while most number can be transferred around, not all numbers can be transferred everywhere.  There are some limitation based on "rate centre" (bascially the physical location tied to the phone number and depends if Telus has an operation in that location)

do you mind to share the area code and the next 3 digits of the phone numbers? I can help to confirm

@softech  great suggestion with incognito mode. I tried that and the page says my number in not eligible for transfer. Very odd. I have a ticket open with public mobile support. See what happens. Thanks

@Tebare   so, you are in My Account now?

Please try again using Incognito mode.  if issues persists, try again on different device, preferably on a desktop or laptop computer

If nothing works, you can open ticket with PM support and ask them to help put in the request manually for you.  Message them here:

Thanks for the suggestion. That is what I have done. I do have a temporary number but I'm trying to now move my current phone number to public but can't get past the second screen since I'm unable to enter or select my previous provider. Many in my family had no issues surprised my old number is being difficult.

@Tebare

You already passed the payment section and you are using the app now?

I suggest you to pick a new number first to activate it with that temporarily.  Once activation is fully completed, you can make outgoing and incoming calls.  You can login to My Account and go to Profile page and click Transfer Number to request porting there
