In addition to @esjliv advice, you'll have to manually select the network/operator in phone settings (and restart).

You'll also need to configure your phone with Public Mobile's APN Settings to access cellular data (and MMS photos/attachments). Although basic Talk and Text should still work without doing this.

And you need to be within service range of a cell site, of course. Preferably not indoors, underground, behind metal and concrete which might block cell signal.

Here's the true test (real easy if someone close to you is with Public Mobile):

  1. try that person's SIM card (who is on PM network) to see if their SIM works in your device
  2. try the SIM card YOU activated in another device to see if it works in that device

These above tests will establish whether it's a DEVICE or a SIM issue.

@Cyril0 ,

IS your Self Serve account ACTIVE?

Try one or more of the below:

*turn off your phone, leave off for a minutes, then reboot

*removing your SIM for a few minutes, then reinserting it

*go into airplane mode for a few minutes, then going back to regular mode

*reset network settings

With TextNow, you will have coverage through Wi-Fi and the Nationwide Sprint Network and Sprint uses a CDMA network. Your phone might not be compatible with Public Mobile.

Is there a chance you might have CDMA phone that doesn't accepts SIM cards? What brand and model is your phone?

I had thought that as well, @LEGO , however there was another poster who mentioned that earlier and couldn't believe there'd be 2 potential CDMA device inquiries in one day.

Who'd have thought!!!  🤣

Hi @Cyril0 what do you mean that the PM sim card is not compatible with your phone?

If it just the size, as already posted above you can punch out the correct size for your phone.

Please give us more information so we may help you better

@Cyril0  If you mean your phone is locked and not reading the PM sim, you can get your phone unlocked for free of charge. If it is simply the size of the sim card, then see the picture posted above.

ah yes @NDesai that could be it too!

@Cyril0

If the phone you are trying to use is locked, contact your previous provider to unlock it for you.

You will need your imei number, dial *#06# to get it.

Are you certain that the PM SIM is not compatible with your phone, or could it be that your phone is not compatible with the Public Mobile network?

As @esjliv mentions, Public Mobile SIM cards come in a tri-punch format, meaning they come sized from Nano, to Micro, to Standard.   These sizes are achievable with adapters which simply click on or click off to make the sizing which fits the device's SIM tray.

Also, be sure you're using the device's SIM tray, and not the microSD slot (if the phone may have one of those)

Here's a picture of the SIM card, with the 2 sizing adapters:

@Cyril0 ,

Are you sure, which phone do you have?

SIMs come in 3 sizes that can be punched out to fit different sized SIM slots:
