I am looking for a cheaper cell carrier  and I am wondering what the service is like in rural New Brunswick

I know that it was mentioned that you'll want to check Telus coverage maps. A followup to that: Which city did you wan tto get a phone number for?  There are places that Public Mobile service will work but local phone numbers are not offered. While Public Mobile's calling plans are Canada-wide, this coudl be a factor for people trying to call you.

Adding to this: There were a couple of reports from Atlantic Canada that some new Telus towers are only equipped with LTE gear. Since Public Mobile's voice service is running on 3G there might be spots that talk works perfectly fine for Telus or Koodo clients using VoLTE, but PM customers are out of luck for calls.

So, signing up for a trial period before porting your number is recommended.

@tgenereaux  You can activate a Public Mobile sim card at Walmart on the $15 plan. Most of the time they provide the sim card for free. Just pick a temporary number to test with. If you use a referral code during your activation (need to provide the code to the Rep during activation)  you will get another $10 credit and another $2 off if you use AutoPay. Test coverage for the next 30 days and if you are satisfied then you can port in your phone number from your current provider. If you are not happy with PM then just remove your AutoPay via your online selfserve account to discontinue your service with Public Mobile.

@tgenereaux , if you have ever used the brands like Telus, Koodo, Bell, Virgin, Lucky,y are going to have the same coverage.  Ask a family or friend if you have not tried them.
