Hey,
Galaxy S7 Edge - latest firmware from Rogers.
Tried to text message a photo of the ribs on the smoker for my wife - and got a message Message Not Sent: Too Large.
Lots of Data left on the plan, I've sent texts to her before, with this phone, on this plan - this month.
Can I control the size of the image? I read elsewhere in these forums there was a 1 MB size limit.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

True enough, the network should integrate with device software to conform attachment sizes.
But we don't live in a perfect world. Whatever works is whatever works best.

It's the one that doesn't work. Samsung works - looks like the filesize is the thing. Is that user-controllable or system/network controlled?
It should be system controlled. MMS is archaic. It has huge limitation on file size. The MMS app has to downsize the file in order to meet system requirement.

Your device runs Android 8.0/Oreo
I suggest trying a free software solution, maybe one of these:

Also, confirm your APN settings are correct -
Thanks - Confirmed settings are accurate - sending later didn't help - file size seems to be the crux.

I tried the stock Samsung messaging app and it was succesfully sent. Weird that I've use the google Messages app to send photos before successfully; the photo that didn't go through size said 1.17 MB.

Assuming you did a reboot after the update, I'm with @will13am here, trying a different app might help. After trying a few different apps, I'm sticking to Textra, haven't had MMS problems ever since.
Also just clarifying that, while you need an active data connection, picture messages / MMS are included in PM's text feature. Unlike other providers, you don't need a data plan to send and receive them, and if you have a data plan it will not affect your available data.
