Medals or badges can be earned for different things *but they don't earn you anything* like 1st post, giving 5 bravos, starting 3 threads that sort of thing. You can also earn reward badges based on your participation and how much your posts help people. These badges are given as the monthly rewards and are usually posted the anywhere from the 5-10 of each month.
On a side note if you are here to earn money for your rewards that is actually just the bonus part you really will have to want to help people as the amount of time it takes to earn the higher rewards can easily be used to return bottles and earn more money.
