Replacing cell number with a landline number

I understand this option is available but when do I cancel my Bell Canada landline account ie after the transfer has been made?  Will I have to update all my contacts will my new phone number?  Anything else I should know before I decide?  Thank you!

Don’t cancel your landline account with Bell. The account need to be activate and once the porting is completed, it Bell account will be cancelled automatically.

I made the mistake of canceling my Shaw number first and ended up picking a new number. I had my old number for over 20 years!😭

Also note that it will take 3 to 7 days to complete the porting so your landline will continue to work until porting is completed.

Do not cancel the landline account! Port the number and the landline will close automatically. If you close the landline first, the port won't work and your number will be gone.

@Amymaria If you are porting your land line number into PM, no one will be the wiser that you have changed providers. Your contacts will still call the number they always have.
