Hi,
I have a little problem... when I get an MMS while my data is turned off, it is not automatically downloaded. I get a notification, but I get an error that says "Could not download". I then have to turn my data on, and manually download the message. My friends who also turn their data off do not have this problem.
Does anyone know of a solution for this by any chance?

@NDesai hahaha, don't worry, I have checked with her (actually I tested this myself). I know about this first hand because she's my girlfriend!

"Cellular Data" must be enabled ("on") for MMS messaging to work.
MMS traffic gets tagged as a distinct "Class of Service" different than data streaming used for, say www or facebook; therefore, as a separate "class," it can be, and is both operated and charged separately. In PM's case, free ($0.00/unit).

@manelgm don't think its possible to send/receive mms without turning on data. Check with her again...

It's just that I turn my data off when I don't actively use it to:
1- avoid downloading things automatically and using up my data.
2- save battery life
So I then have to manually download the pic, just a little workaround is all 🙂

Sorry, don't know how the other carriers manage MMS.
Not sure why it matters since they are free anyway.

I was worried that was going to be the answer. I guess my friend is just that lucky, because she can receive and send an MMS while her data is turned off! Or maybe it's because she is with Koodo?

For MMS to function on PM, cellular data MUST be turned on. The data used by MMS is not counted in your data usage.
If you have no data plan, cellular data must still be turned on and APN correctly set to send/receive MMS.
