I'm not sure whether to start a new thread or reviving an old thread of the same topic.
I'm about to help two family members porting out one number of a shared Telus plan. There's no commitment on the plan.
Main account holder, "Person A" whose name the Telus account is under, has his own phone number
The additional user, "Person B" is listed as a user in the shared plan, and also has his own phone number.
We want to move Person B to Public Mobile. If I understand correctly, this is what I'd do:
1. Activate a PM sim for Person B, use an email alias (is it really necessary even though he's not the main account holder of the Telus plan?), choose a new number.
2. Once service is confirmed, I can start the porting process, here comes the confusing part, when asked for the number the be ported, we obviously would enter Person B's Telus phone number, and Person A's name and Telus account Number? or do we put Person B's name and Person A's account number? And whose Telus PIN would we enter? Person B has his own Telus PIN (for voicemail access, etc), is that what we would input during the porting process?
Thanks.

Whose is the owner of the account? PERSON A or B?
Porting number needs only 3 pieces of info:
- Use the name on the monthly statement
- Account #
- The phone number to be ported.

I would not bother using the PIN for porting. Use:
- Number to be ported
- Account number
- Main Account holder's name exactly as on invoice
- check the "I'm authorized" box
It might be worthwhile not to use the main account holder's number as alternate phone number. Just in case there is a mix up between the two numbers, non-matching information would just make the port fail, whereas the port might go through - and create the according mess - if all the information clicks even if it is the wrong number. Just my 2cents...

I've moved your message in to a new thread. Messages added on to an old thread tend not to get answered some of the time.
Do yourself a favor and forget about using the Telus account PIN for porting. It is not needed. Stick to only using the account number. The authorization for porting name should be the account owner's name, although I have read that an authorized user's name on an account might work (although I disagree with it if Telus allows that because the account holder is considered the actual "owner" of the phone number). If you want to avoid any doubt about that, have Telus put the both phone numbers under the same name and remove peron's B name as an authorized user.
You don't need to use a Gmail alias (although you can) because Telus postpaid accounts can be associated with the same e-mail address as a Public Mobile account.
