Choosing Phone Number

Hello,

I am having a similar problem. Please help. 

My landlord wanted an Ottawa local area number to setup the building buzz code. I thought 613/343 codes belong to Ottawa area. But there was no area specific to Ottawa in PM site to choose. I saw that Smithsfalls area had the 613 area code. So I chose a number from Smithsfalls area. 

Now when someone tries to call me from Ottawa it says its going to Canada wide calling. Not sure if the Canada wide calling charges applies to both the caller and receiver. 

Is there a way I can avoid the Canada wide calling and get covered under province wide calling. Or should I choose a number from another to area to avoid this? Please help!!

Yes, it should be. Besides, you can change numbers every 30 days so why not change to an OTTTAWAHULL number and test it?

The 613 area code covers different cities. Choosing a phone number with a 613 area code does not guarantee that people calling from Ottawa can call the number locally.

It never matters for you where someone calls from as long as you're in Canada. The person could be calling from the other side of the world and it still wouldn't make any difference for your Public Mobile account. The only way the make it so that the the other preson doesn't need to make a long distance call to reach you would be for you to change your phone number to one that is local for that th other person who is calling you.

I see 343-262 numbers for ON-OTTAWAHULL available when I tried to change numbers in Self Serve. Maybe try again and see if they show up for you? (Different browser, incognito mode, etc, might help)

@RS5957   All current PM plans include Canada wide calling so no extra charges when you make calls.  What other parties who call you may get charged depends upon their service with their provider.
