If you don’t want to keep your number. Disable subscribe and after 90 days. Your account will be closed, SIM will no longer work and your number will be returned to the carrier you originally got your number from.
Unfortuantely, none of the information that you have posted above is correct. Accounts do not get closed after 90 days of disabling autopay. Accounts get closed when being suspended for 90 days.
Also, the part abou re-enabling autopay to resume servcie is also incorrect. Turning autopay back on after service has been suspended will not renew the plan. When a plan is in suspension, the payment needs to be done manually.

When you return to Canada, purchase a new SIM/eSIM and on the PM app. Subscribe for a new plan and number.

Hello,
The number can be suspended or placed on hold for up to 90 days.
As a solution, you may cancel the automatic payments through your My Account portal. Please ensure that the service is reactivated for at least one month before the 90-day suspension period ends.
Let us know if you need any assistance with this process.
