Hi,
I am new to Public Market. I am wanting to make an account and get my old phone number transferred from Virgin Mobile. When I enter my number into the "Check if your phone number is eligible" it says it is unable to transfer. Any ideas on how to still keep my old number?

Where are you located?
PM may not have the telephone exchange or telephone switch at you town of city. But you can get a phone number in the nearby big city. There is no long distance charge as all PM plans are Canada wide minutes.

Your Virgin Mobile account must be active in order for your number to be eligible for transfer.
If it was recently closed, please contact Virgin. You may be able to get them to reopen the account for you.

@amyplessis77 once you activate with a temporary cell phone number. You have to contact the moderators and ask them to port your number. Type " Port Request " and follow the prompts to get to one. Give them the name on the account, number to port and the Virgin account number. Please note that your Virgin account must be active to port your number. The port will close it once its completed. There are 2 ways to contact the Moderator Team:
Once connected to Simon, you will be asked to log in again with your community user name and password. Please do, this allows you to continue and send your message.
- Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent.
- Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen. The mods answer will show up there. When it does, you will be asked to verify your self service account, with your password and login. Doing so allows the process to continue. Stay safe.

Hi @amyplessis77 ,
Did you already close your Virgin Mobile account? If so, the phone number may not be available any longer.
If you are porting a phone number from a previous provider, make sure to keep that account open. When the port is complete to Public Mobile the other account will be automatically closed.
Also, you will need to obtain a Public Mobile SIM card to create an account.
