Yeah, I agree. For most people, leaving the network connection on Automatic is probably the best option and just letting the phone decide whether LTE or 5G makes the most sense.

Battery usage can definitely vary between phones, though. Some devices may get slightly better battery life staying on LTE, but I don't think the difference is significant enough for most people to worry about. If 5G is working well, I'd personally just leave it on Automatic and let the phone handle it.

Exactly. I leave mine on 5G Auto as well. I like that the phone can switch between LTE and 5G depending on what gives the best connection rather than forcing 5G all the time.

I haven’t noticed any major battery difference either, and like you, I usually keep a battery bank handy just in case. The convenience of letting the phone manage the connection is worth it to me.

Your phone will pick the strongest signal when it is on 5G auto. It will switch back and forth between 4G/LTE and 5G. I haven’t noticed much of a drain on the battery but I alway have a battery bank handy.

Do not worry about battery life. Just live it on auto and network/phone will pick the best option.

More concern is staring the screen all the time, playing games or browsing useless soc networks.

it is true that for some phones, it is more battery save to stick with LTE than 5G.  I don't see a too strong the difference that make it do it, but each phone could be different
