ALSO TRY

Go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage OFF.

Turn your iPhone off completely, then turn it back on.

Go back into Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage ON.

Make sure “Send as SMS” is also turned ON.

@kristincorbett

If resetting Network settings (under Cellular Data Network) does not fix it set up iPhone for messaging as follows:

Settings >>

Messages >>

iMessage on,

Send as SMS on, MMS messaging on >>

Send & Receive should show your PM number as well as your iCloud email address.

you checked the colour of the messages ?  If it is blue, it's iMessage and hence it needs Mobile Data or Wifi to receive

did you try turning on Mobile Data and see if you are getting the messages now?

Again, you can turn off iMessage by:

On Apple
(Blue ones are sent using Apple's iMessage while Green are SMS)

change the iMessage settings by
Click on Settings app,
click Messages,
Turn iMessage off (switch from green to grey)

Hello @kristincorbett ,

If you are android, Disable your Chat Features:

  1. Open Messages
  2. Tap More options > Settings > Chat features
  3. Turn Enable chat features off

This could be a case of either the sender and/or receiver having chat or iMessage settings enabled.

Did you just changed phone?

You would notice the difference in colour:

For receiving, you can always turn on Data so can receive iMessage or RCS.  Or you can ask your friend to send via SMS only

To confirm sending out on Text and NOT iMessage or RCS, you can do this

On Android (RCS)
(The chat bubbles are dark blue when Chat enabled or light blue when SMS/TXT are used)

On the Messaging app,
tap 3 little dots top right, click Settings
under Chat settings, scroll to "Select default messaging type",
Switch from Automatic to Text/multimedia msg

On Apple
(Blue ones are sent using Apple's iMessage while Green are SMS)

change the iMessage settings by
Click on Settings app,
click Messages,
Turn iMessage off (switch from green to grey)
