@Eather this is a device issue. The text messages are saved on the device itself and it is there regardless which mobile provider sim you have. So, transferring to PM would not have deleted your messages
If you are using a different phone number z you need to manually backup from the old phone and restore onto the new one
If you are using the same phone, you could have deleted the Messaging app data by mistake
