Ok, so we were able to open a new account, got the phone working with the new sim card and then 20mins later i got a text from someone that has the exact same # as Public Mobile assigned us. When we sign into our web account it won't let us pick a new number.
Now what do we do?

We were able to change it to a new number later on

You can change you number via your My Account, but only after 30 days.
I would contact the Moderator_Team via private message using this link and explain what happened.
There's no need to wait 30 days. When an account is opened, the assigning of that phone number does not ccount as a phone number change.
@cfutb If that's the first phone number you've had a Public Mobile, the phone number change option not allowing the change is probably just a temproary problem with the self serve website. I would try again at a later time.

@cfutb contact the moderators, explain what happened and ask them to reassign you a new number.
There are 2 ways to contact the Moderator Team:
Once connected to Simon, you will be asked to log in again with your community user name and password. Please do, this allows you to continue and send your message.
- Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent.
- Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen. The mods answer will show up there. When it does, you will be asked to verify your self service account, with your password and login. Doing so allows the process to continue. Stay safe.
