Hello, I recently purchased a Sony Xperia XZ1 and am having problems getting the mobile data to work. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried putting the settings to what my boyfriend has on his Sony phone, but it does not seem to work.

 @HALIMACS : It's basically networking. For me, here, it's partly memorization and partly pattern recognition. I glance at a screenshot and something out of the ordinary jumps out. Or nothing. 6 1/2 hours later...crickets.

I get it, @Anonymous    The reason I cited you is to recognize it being a good suggestion on your part, and to be brutally honest, APN settings are quite foreign to me.   🤔

Ensure Data is enabled.@HALIMACS covered that one. 😉

 

Try going into airplane mode for a few minutes, then going back to regular mode.

Hi @valleygirl103 here's what is suggested on a Sony support article

 

If there is no mobile data connection, try the following:

  • Turn off your device and then turn it back on. By doing this you turn off all running applications and free up memory, which sometimes automatically solves the issue.
  • If your device supports STAMINA mode, deactivate it and restart your device. To save battery power, STAMINA mode disables mobile data when the screen is turned off.

Mobile data toggled on?

Reboot device, remove SIM, reinsert SIM?

Reset network connections?

 

If your boyfriend is also on Public Mobile, try swapping SIM's to see the results.

 

Also, please post APN settings for @Anonymous  to consider.

@valleygirl103 , as already noted, it is usually APN settings issues that impede mobile data functionality.  This is the official help article of managing the APN on android device.  Hope this is helpful.
