Locked and fake

I have a general question. Could a phone be locked to a carrier(ex: Telus), and still be a fake one. If yes, how can we check it.

Thanks

What phone is it btw?
If you are spending too much on it then maybe be careful and check IMEI. Also check on Google if there are fake models of this phone around.

If it's very cheap then there's not much risk.

All phones are supposed to come from the factory with a unique IMEI.  I suppose just like cars with unique serial numbers, it can be spoofed.  As for SIM locking, that is done at the factory on the request of the carrier.  If someone is going to produce fake phones, I don't see the point of locking them to a carrier.  BTW, by year end the carriers in Canada will no longer be able to SIM lock phones.  This term is soon to be deprecated at least in this part of the world.

You can put a Telus, Public mobile or kodoo SIM card in and test the phone.

Sorry,

By fake phone, I mean a non original phone.

A phone that looks like the original one, normally with lower quality.

It is a sort of illegal and fraud business.

I don't think a fake phone can be locked since it's fake
