Hi Everyone.  I just got my phone up and running with PM.  I was with koodo before this.  I noticed that when I put in my koodo sim card I would get and LTE connection but when I put in the PM sim card I would only get 3d connection.

Had anyone experinced this before and how to fix it?  My phone is a oneplus X

thanks,

@Watoko good to know Ill probably do that too.  I setup my account so my email address is different from my koodo one.   Right now I can't log into selfserve so just waiting on a mod to fix this for me.

@kc815 Did it myself through self-serve. No problems for me, just make sure your Koodo email address isn't the same as your Public Mobile one.

@Watoko did you port through a modirator or did you do it yourself through the selfserve?

Porting from Koodo is fast and easy, literally took like 2 min for the number to port, so hopefully it'll be as fast for you!

I just put the simcard back in and looks like LTE works now!  Thanks guys for the help.

Now all i have left to do is fix the selfserve log in problem and port my number over from koodo.  Fingers crossed.Smiley Happy

Give it time and try restart your phone. Mine was on HSPA for the first 30 mins or so and I restarted then it changed to LTE.

Make sure your APN setting is set to (Public Mobile - sp.mb.com) or you'll have to add it manually

You may have to change the APN settings on your phone.

I found these steps from another post by Lachlan_M

Android 4.0 and higher :

Step 1:

Settings > More... > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > New APN setting (or a plus sign) *Some models might have a slightly different path

Step 2:

You will need to input the following info:

Name:  Public
APN:  sp.mb.com
Proxy:  Leave blank
Port:  Leave blank
Username:  Leave blank
Password:  Leave blank
Server:  Leave blank
MMSC:  http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy:  74.49.0.18
MMS port:  80
MCC:  302
MNC:  220
Authentication type:  Leave blank
APN type:  Leave blank

Step 3: Select Save/Done. Select Public Mobile to connect to the Public Mobile network. Your data should work normally now. Hopefully that helps.

Also 4G and LTE are essentially the same thing.

time is a virtue 🙂 it solves around 90 percent of the problems here on the PM forums haha

Ok good to know, I'll give it a couple hours and see if it fiexes it self.

I have the same phone and just switched over, you gotta go to your cellular networks > access point names > select public mobile. also set apn type to blank

I noticed that for the first hour or so my phone (came from Rogers) sat on HSPA and then switched to LTE.

Now I stay on LTE all the time (switching and coming back to LTE automatically only for a voice call).

I've had this happen with other carriers - it's as if it takes time for LTE to lock-in the first time. I have no idea why!
