are you getting any inbound calls? Make sure you removed the old carrier sim card and esim. And check if you are receiving inbound call. If so, go to Settings , Phone and remove the phone number at My Number manually. Wait 15 mins and reboot the phone and go back to the same setting screen to enter the number back. This will force iPhone to register the iMessage again. It could take long to re-register. Leave it and it should work
