I can't send texts -- but I have the plan for sending 50 in a month. and unlimited incoming. I have gotten text messages from public mobile. and the phone seems to get incoming calls - but I can't send texts -- the other thing is on my phone -- even though it mostly works -- it says that I don't have a valid sim card -- this confuses me. Can anyone help? Thanks. I have a sony experia if that helps. Old model but not used much.

SO I took the sim card out ... and put it back in -- still says it isn't valid ... but it sent the messages .... YAY! Thank you everyone for your input.

both had the same solution. not sure if it will fix yours, but worth a try.

When you say that you have received texts from public mobil I am assuming you recieved the text telling you that "you are all setup and welcome to public mobile." If you didn't then there could be something wrong with the setup. Could you have used up all your texts already as 50 isn't a lot? Could there be a setting on your phone that's preventing you from sending texts? Did you text with your previous carrier? Hope some of that helps.

@ceig I mentioned the spare phone because of the invalid sim message.
One basic trouble shooting technique with sms is to try a different sms app.
Have you ever been able to send sms? Could you have used them up? That is why I mentioned to check sms usage in self serve.

It was activated in store -- and I created my account online ... and got onto this site -- the sales person even called my cell to make sure it worked and was activated before I left the store. It works Public mobile has sent me texts -- but I can't send out going texts -- it just says cannot send. I am on the cheap 10 a month plan -- but that gives me 50 outgoing texts. so I don't know what the problem is.

If I can type it and press send -- I dont' see why it should go? And no I don't have another phone I could try it in. I get incoming messages from public mobile -- and incoming and outgoing calls -- I got the plan so I could text. I am confused. @CS_Agent

Have you activated your SIM card? It's probably that you haven't activate your SIM card, therefore you couldn't make outgoing calls.

Do you have another phone you can try the sim in? This isolates account vs hardware issues.
Can you check selfserve and text sent usage?
Also Try a different messaging app.
