Hello, I am currently with a difference carrier and I want to switch to Public Mobile and also keep my number. Can a moderator or staff member contact me?

If you are with telus just give them a quick call before you do it, that way you will not have any issues with it, then do the request and all good!

Koodo and Public both use the same (Telus) network, so your phone is definitely compatible. But confirm it's not carrier-locked before you make the switch.

The easiest way is to borrow a SIM card from someone (friend, family, whatever) who's not a Koodo customer. Just put it in, restart (if needed), try making a call or sending a text, it'll take less than two minutes before you return the SIM to the lender's phone. If your phone is Koodo-locked then it won't connect to non-Koodo networks.

@aliasghar123  If your switching from Koodo postpaid your can port-in your number during sim activation. Just have your Koodo account number, name on the Koodo account and Koodo number ready and enter it when choosing your number.

If it's Koodo prepaid then you need to pick a temp number during activation and once you have competed your activation click this link and type in “port request” to be put in touch with a Moderator. Include the Koodo info above.

Switching from koodo.

@aliasghar123  These 4 articles on activation and porting and the Refer a friend reward  if you need them are a good start to what would be required to switch and how to do it.

1. What you require to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/what-you-need-to-activate
2.How to activate https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/activation-account-set-up
3.How to port https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/choose-your-phone-number
4. Refer a friend https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/the-refer-a-friend-reward

Note your old providers account must be active to port your number.  The port will close it once its completed. Stay safe.

If you do decide to switch and need a SIM card. Another option is to buy your SIM card from Canadian cell supplies https://canadiancellsupplies.com/collections/latest-products/products/public-sim-card currently their sims are $3.33 each.

Welcome to Public Mobile. Don't forget to use a referral code for a $10 signup bonus.

We recommend to take the following steps if you need to port-in a number:

  • Be sure to note the best practices below to ensure a smooth process:
    1. Only the authorized account holder can transfer a number.
    2. You cannot transfer numbers between Public Mobile accounts.
    3. Your previous account must be active in order for the number transfer to go through. Once the transfer is complete, it will be automatically deactivated from your previous service provider.
    4. Double check your old account info, as it needs to be correct in order for your number transfer to complete. Here’s the information you’ll need:

Mobile Phone Number Transfer

Landline Phone Number Transfer

Alternate Phone Number

Complete billing address

First and Last Name of the account holder

Alternate phone number

You’ll also need to provide one of the following: your old account number or your ESN/IMEI/MEID number or your account PIN

First and last name of the account holder

  1. As a new customer, we recommend porting a number at activation with the exception of Koodo Prepaid customers.
    • We have made some system enhancements to improve the success rate of this activity. So long as the correct information is entered, this process should be seamless
  2. All other customers: To complete your port-in request, please open our chatbot via this link and type in “port request” to be put in touch with a Moderator.

We thank you for your patience while we work through the Self-Serve maintenance
