Added money to my account an says I don't have an active line for long distance an I'm not even trying call long distance

Both @ChuckYeah and @geopublic have given you the "tricks of the trade" to get your calling feature working again. If you have added the $5/500 min add on and still get that message...have you but 1 in front of the number? Manually dial the phone number rather than using your contacts or call history/recent? After trying all these....and you have active plan/feature/add on and it still does not work even have listened to the message to see if the call goes thru then you have to contact Simon (?) As per advice. @Fonniekennedy @Irmakmpeter Your tickets will be submitted and prioritized for access to the moderators quicker than just a private message.

Can you log into your self serve? Does it show the $5 for 500 min add on on your overview page? Does it show your money is still on your account? Buying an add on is a two step process, so perhaps you have yet to use the $$ to purchase the add on in the system.

@IrmakmpeterDIal 611 to see if your plan is active or suspended.If it is active. Put your phone in airplane mode wait for 15 minutes swtich off airplane mode and test again.
If it is suspended you need to access your selfserve account and hit the re-activate button.
if it's still an issue you may try the lost/stolen phone trick:
To report your phone stolen. Login to your selfserve account. Choose Plans and Add-ons tab. Choose the Lost/Stolen Phone tab. Choose Suspend Service tab. Wait 15 minutes. Report your phone found. Re-start you phone.
If it'still not working try adding another small amount to your account funds like $1 or $5 to see if starts working.
If it's still an issue submit a ticket.

@Fonniekennedy @Irmakmpeter what plan are both of you on? Do you have unlimited minutes? Log into your account on the overview page and look at plan and tell me how many minutes you each have?

I am having the same problem. I’ve read in here to try adding the five dollar long distance, I have done that and still not working. Some people have had some luck doing that.
