Since yesterday, I haven't been able to have a proper phone conversation. I hear a beep in the background after about ten seconds and the call drops after one minute.
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions how to fix this?

Sounds like it is dropping when switching between providers - in a weak zone where you have equal strength from multiple providers, the phone may toggle out and loose connection.
Under your Network settings, force pick one of the network providers (Probably AT&T or T-Mobile).
Remember to switch back to "Auto" after you change locations.
