Changeing phones

I want to change phones, keep my same plan and phone number. Do I just insert the sims card from my old phone? What do I need to do to activate my newer phone

@Evie59  Will the SIM card work in your old phone ? 
if it’s not working in the new phone it might be that it’s device issue

The phone is just new to me, but it is the same brand.

@Evie59  Should be pretty much instant , did you reboot the phone ? If not try that also is the phone new or just new to you will the SIM card still work in your old phone ?

Thank you. I do believe it is just a regular SIM card that I purchased from Public Mobile when I joined.   When I did just insert the SIM card - how long until Public Mobile recognizes it.  As it was only showing Emergency Calls Only, not the Public Mobile.

@Evie59  Yes just take  physical SIM card out of old phone and simply put it in new phone and reboot the device that’s it , but if you have eSIM then you need to download public mobile app to new phone and rebuy eSIM and it will be free at check out . If you have any issues come back here and we can further advise
