Cannot setup iphone 7 on Public Mobile

derekwatson

My info banner at the top of my iphone confirms that I am on the Public Mobile network but I cannot enter the setup values as I cannot find all of the required fields which need values.

The instructions say to enter:

APN:SP.MB.COM

MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc

MMS Proxy:74.49.0.18

The only field I can find is APN

How do I navigate to the other 2 fields so I can enter the values?

Thank you

Derek Watson

@derekwatson  Are you on a province wide plan? If yes, that will explain why you can't call because you can only call numbers in the province that you are currently in.

Buy the 500 minute Canada wide addon for $5 or consider changing to one of the current PM plans that include Canada wide calling.

I do not have a data plan.

My region was set to BC when I am in ON

I changed it to ON but when I phoned the landline phone im my house and in the same room as my cellphone I got a message saying that the call could not be completed as it was long distance

@derekwatsonThe instructions are only for Android phones which require APN entries. Turn off your wifi, turn on your data and try the internet (I assume you have a plan that has data included). Report back if that doesn't work.

@derekwatson  for your device you don't need to set any APN settings.

Update carrier settings on your iPhone 7 Plus
  1. Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi. If you can't connect to Wi-Fi, then you can use iTunes instead. ...
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap General.
  4. Tap About.
  5. If an update is available, tap the option to Update and follow the onscreen instructions to update your carrier settings.

@derekwatson I think most of the time, iPhone automatically got the PM network.

@derekwatson

Does your data work?  Usually with newer iphones, you should not need to set up APN settings.  it should be automatic.  You could reboot phone with SIM card or try a network reset, which should fix the APN setting issue.
